Following the amazing discovery of King Richard III’s remains beneath a council car park in Leicester, Studio MB was appointed by Leicester City Council to help create a world-class visitor experience that would spark and sustain local, national, and worldwide interest in this astonishing story.
The exhibition on the ground floor charts the King’s life and death and examines the circumstances that make Richard the man he becomes, whilst the first floor reveals one of the greatest archaeological detective stories ever told and features the first ever genome sequencing of ancient DNA. The visitor experience ends in a contemplative glass floored space where visitors can see where Richard’s body was hastily buried over 500 years ago.
The team at Studio MB were responsible for all design and implementation stages for this project, from inception to completion, including research, narrative planning, content development, concept design, developed design and technical design, graphic design, AV software and AV hardware design, lighting design, script and copy writing, illustration, plus project management and contract administration.
"What we have got here far exceeds any of my hopes and expectations. Astonishingly imaginative work by some very creative people who have used modern technology to take the history and treat it very faithfully and treat it in a way that is accessible to us in the 21st Century."
Sir Peter Soulsby
Mayor of Leicester
