Internship Stories 2019
At Studio MB, we have a track record for supporting design students and graduates through a range of opportunities. These have included: student/graduate internship programmes; mentoring programmes; work experience placements; lecturing programmes, presentations, further education visits and conferences.
In 2019, we were delighted to welcome an intern within our Graphics department. Here’s what he had to say about his experience with Studio MB.
Cameron Reid (Student) - Graphics Intern, June 2019:
"During my time at Studio MB I felt very welcome by everyone. I received very useful advice from the graphics team, from software tips to learning about how to print on all sorts of different materials. I found it interesting how the 3D team work with the graphics team to come up with solutions and design proposals. It was a real eye opener to see the 3D team working on the same projects and discussing ideas in meetings to then designing concepts on different software applications.
It was a great insight in to a unique part of the industry. I found it fascinating to be working with clients from different parts of the world and the opportunity to travel to new places as part of a job really excited me. It was amazing to see the passion that everyone in the studio has towards design, which made me feel excited about my own future in the world of graphic design.
The graphics team gave me some helpful advice on my own personal work that I had been working on at the time which I am very grateful for. I was made to feel like part of the design team, which meant a lot. It will be an experience that I will always remember and be thankful for."
Marge Urquhart (Student) - Graphics Intern, June 2019:
"During my internship at Studio MB, it felt like I was being welcomed into one big design family. I was trusted with working on live briefs, which was incredibly eye opening and such a valuable experience. It was amazing to see all sides of a professional graphic design job – from the 3D team to costing, 2D to project managing, the team at Studio MB were more than happy to explain each part and truly involve me. This really helped me to understand how different departments in a design office can collaborate on projects.
I was lucky enough to gain first hand advice on my own projects from the graphic design team. David, Jake, Stuart, Jo and Tasha were all more than happy to give me feedback on several pieces I was working on and I am so grateful to them. My internship at Studio MB made me feel more confident about entering the world of design when I leave University and I cannot thank the team enough for my experience with them."
