Studio MB was commissioned by the royal household of the Amir of Kuwait to transform the shell of the former Al Salam Palace, badly damaged and abandoned after the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, into a new, national museum and visitor experience.
The Al Salam Palace, now restored and repurposed, tells the 300-year history of a nation told through the achievements of its 15 rulers. The reimagined Palace delivers 26 exhibition galleries in two immersive museum visitor experiences, a suite of temporary exhibition galleries, an underground courtyard with a café, shop and education centre, a digital library complex, and a suite of VIP reception facilities.
The team at Studio MB were responsible for all design and implementation stages for this project, from inception to completion, including research, narrative planning, content development, concept design, developed design and technical design, graphic design, AV software and AV hardware design, lighting design, script and copy writing, illustration, plus production and installation oversight and project management.
